The mixture screws on my carb wont stay adjusted, they keep backing out while running. What can be done? I tune it and then after a short while it loads up and runs lame.

Also, if the carb is shot, will an older 181 carb fit and work on my saw? I have access to one.

Locktite on the outside of the mixture screws.

A thought just poped in my head, I don't know how well it will work though....
Try pulling the screws and putting 1 small wrap of teflon tape around them.
Pretty simple and cheap, give it a shot.

Do you have the springs on the outside of the needles? I can't remember for sure..but I'm pretty sure they have a spring on the outside to keep tension on them.
