Can anyone point me in the right direction of how to mod my 288xp for some extra power and better performance?
Also can I put better doings on it to lessen the vibes?

Almost every saw can benefit from the same things. Increase airflow in & out, increase compression and advance the timing. Easiest way to accomplish that is to mod the muffler, replace the cylinder gasket w/ sealant and shave the flywheel key.

That said, the easiest performance gains can be found in the chain.
