I've been to 4 different Stihl dealers and not one stock 28in chains. Could someone enlighten me on why, or is it just around my home. They can order them, but none stock them. I just thought that was odd...
The closest to me and best stihl dealer around will spin you whatever chain you want while you wait. And he stocks most of the good non-safety stuff from stihl and oregon.
A REAL dealer of any brand should be able to spin up a new chain while you wait in three or four different chain types at any time. That's the way it was in the good ole days, like 10-15 years ago, before the saw companies started passing out dealerships to garden centers and farm stores.
Keep looking, there are a few real saw shops left.
As above, local dealer can spin anything. Otherwise, Frawley's saw shop (loggerchain.com) does a real a real nice job, fast and cheap, with Oregon chains.
Both Husky & Stihl shops local to me stock rolls of chain and will put together whatever you want while you wait. Try a local Husky shop? Otherwise, there are plenty of places online.
