I did a search and dont see what I am looking for. I am interested in knowing how the 361 compares to a 262xp. I am thinking about buying a 361 and one of the guys I cut with runs a stock 262xp. Will the 361 cut with the 262xp??

yeah i think a 361 would be able to slightly outcut a 262 but the 361 may have trouble against a 365.
but all three are good saws i just think the 262xp is a lil slower

Nope, the 262xp cuts VERY fast. It will out cut the 361 when both are stock. The 361 is more desirable as a race saw since it is 59cc and the 262 is 61.5, the cutoff is 60cc when you are racing.

Everything beeing right, and equal, I believe a good 262xp will beat both the 365 and 361, under most circomstanses.

Yep, its an XP Husky. The 361 is good but not the best things since sliced bread, the 365 is ok but nothing special. Even though the 262 XP gives up a little displacement to the 365 it will outperform it, same with the 361.

He and I raced his 262xp and my 365 Special, I was running a new chain and he was freshly sharpened, I beat him by a few seconds. That put an end to him bashing my 365 because it did not say XP on it. It sounds to me like the 361 would need a muffler mod to keep up with the 262????? Anyone else have any experience with these 2 saws?

saw

Get a 044 or 440, or 441 and blow him in the weeds!LOL!!!That's what I'd do! Or just put a 372 BB kit on the 365 and really surprise him! And, almost forgot, a good muffler mod too. Tell him, All's I did was port the muffler, with a half straight face.LOL!!!!!!!!!:greenchainsaw:   :)

I have yet to run a 361, but I know there is nothing slow about a 262xp!!! If that saw is in good working shape, BUY IT FROM HIM!!!!!! They just don't make anything that compares to that saw IMHO!!!

Check out the CS2171 or 372xp

If you are interested in a new saw you may want to check the 2 mentioned above. They have quite a bit more power than the MS361 and for about the same money. My CS2171 is just getting broke in and it is flat amazing with a 20" bar. Seriously, the power seems endless with a 20" bar no bogging at all not even in hardwood. I think for the money a CS2171/372xp is a fantastic saw. 5.4 horsepower for around $620 or 4.4 HP for the same price?? I'm not bashing Stihl, they make a great saw too, I just like to get more HP for the same money and that CS2171 is a real smile maker.
