365 XT

I recently traded the old 99 2171 (3 rebuilds) for a 2011 365xt. Ive been around saws for a while and wanted to try the xt for comparison. It will be running a 24 inch bar so naturally Im already thinking more power. I understand grinding the transfer covers makes it a 372? Just looking for some advice and maybe pics to confirm? Also I was wondering if a muffler mod will make any difference being a strato? Trying to put some hours on it to get a good idea of the power gains.

Absolutely. Remove the transfer covers and grind out the divider. Mod the muffler as you would any 372. Be sure to re-tune.

Would it do any good to also polish out the exhaust port since the cylinder is off? After the mods and retune will it have the power to spin an 8 pin and 24?
