That big of a bar, unless it's softwood, Id get the ms460. Im very impressed with my fathers, and his is stock. I keep trying to get him to open the muffler up but his reply is "Its got enough power for me like this" . They are great saws.

I have a 044 love it. Wont sell it not even for a 460. But if I went to get a new one it would be a 460 on the stihl side. You just stuck on that brand, and those two models? Just asking because there are a few other options.

I agree - I really like the 460 with a 28" bar (my favorite firewood setup) provided the bar is not buried......If you're actually cutting 28" wood, I would go with a 660 as well.
And definately a 660 with the 32". At 36", I go to one of my 084's.

I'm diggin the ms440 right now. I go through bouts with certain saws...right now I'm on a 440 kick. I love the ms460 too but the 440 is a tad lighter and is more then enough for most stuff I do.

Well I have always wanted a 660 but for now 0I'm looking for a smaller one since I currently have a 395. But if a 660 would be better for what the bars I want to use then I might go that route

I personally like the 440 a lot better than the 460, but it's personal preference. If a person needs more than the 440 than grab the 395/660, etc. However, for 99% of what I need to cut the 440 is plenty.

your got a 395. that's all you need mate! 24" to 36" on the 395 is win win !!!!! if ya looking at getting a smaller saw, being there a tad lighter in the 70cc range, then run 28" or under on a 440 ...personally Id be looking into getting yourself a 372XP with 28" and leaving the big stuff for your 395.
