750 homer

does any body know what that cover on the side of an early 750 cylinder is for. and to anyone who has one of these.have you ever seen another saw sling this much oil? Maybe its just mine?

My brother nicknamed my 925 "The Exxon Valdez" due to the fact that there is a small oil spill everwhere you set it down after extended use.
