Advice on removal of two Oaks that are close to my house

Well the trees are down. He tied the big tree to his truck, cut a wedge into it and pulled it down while someone else made the back-cut. I thought for sure it was going to smash the house but it didn't. I was pretty nervous there for a minute. I feel bad that the old tree had to go but it will provide warmth for my family now.

They used a Stihl 066 to drop it.
 
Gutter guards would have cost a lot less. Enjoy the warm sunshine--lots more of that on the way!
 
Gutter guards lol. The tree covered half the roof with debris. The valley's were filled. This causes water to run across the roof and eventually leak. Gutter guards can't fix that. Additionally gutter guards for a 4000 sq ft home where the rear gutters are 30 feet in the air cost a he'll of a lot more than two grand.
