I have an Altec LR 111 bucket and have a small leak out of the lower hydrolic on the lower boom. There isn't a lot of volume, but am concerned. I am wondering if this is an issue. I must need a new seal or something. Not sure though. I would like some insight into this if someone has had the same problem and has rectified it. Otherwise it runs great. Love some feed back. Thanks.

The big issue is it lets in contaminants if a drift check has been performed
and holding valves operate correct a small leak is not life threatening. Holding valves prevent the boom from bleeding down in the event of hydraulic failure.Any good competent cylinder rebuilder should be able to fix or order a new cylinder. I would make plans to change repair asap to keep contaminants from entering system.
