Good job.
My question is why does somebody wait until a tree gets into that bad a shape before they call someone. With the house so close I would have been scared that something would happen.

Yes that is a good point owner lives out of state and he now wants
me to check the trees occasionally and call if one dies or gets in
bad shape! He had several services refuse him, I found out later
the golf course in the back ground informed him tree was a hazard!

If you do not mind letting us in on the procedure that you used to take that tree down I would like to know.

Its alway amazing how bad some people will let a tree get before they call:jawdrop:

Hey Ropensaddle looks like you have a big strap on that to keep it from chairing?Ive always just wrapped a chain but that looks like a good ideaWork well?

Well I took off all I could with bucket but at sixty foot
the limbs I would have to rope off to itself were like
trees and I did not like the shake factor So I set high
test chain in the tree and pulled it tight with the 20000lb
winch on the front of that bucket and cut in until started to move
a little and gave signal to bring it over the rope was a backup!

Basically it boils down to having the right equipment and the smarts to use it. Thanks

It looks like one of those tie down straps that are used to tie down heavy loads on flatbed trucks, I have used them and they are almost impossible to break if they are in good condition.

Rope

Could you post a picture of the direction you took the tree. That is just like the one that I wrote about earlier in my bad day post. But mind was bigger around and had just a rotten cavern in it. Just curious if the direction I chose on mine could have been part of my demise.
Thanks
Jared

The strap is heavy duty not a tractor supply it is a trucker type
and it prevented a bad chair it tried to but strap held I tightened it
before felling. If you look at the cavity you will see I had to notch
a little to the left to open up and fell it straight back against lean
I left a good bit of meat on both sides and let the pto winch do
the rest. The hinge was thicker than usual as I did not want it to
go into other trees as a nice monkey puzzle is to the right and to
the left a fair hickory did not fall exactly as planned but fell good
enough to prevent damage and loss of life. I normally climb out of
the bucket and piece down but did not want to be in the tree in
dynamic loading situation call me chicken if you must

Nice TD. Looked a bit sketchy, but alls well that ends well. Kudos

Kenn:rock:
I told the wife to get a pic when was set up to fall
I had that 20000lb winch on the tree plus the snub rope
and no doubt it was going away from house, but did miss
blocks my groundy put down to protect cart path as was
making sure it did not go into monkey puzzle! it hit a hill
that kept it off path no damage but had to tell groundy
to build a better barrier next time!
