Man,is my butt chapped!!!!Contacted a guy with an E-Bay store,Bowman's Repair Service,B.R.S, cause he did not have a bar listed I wanted. He says he has what I want,he sends me a Pay-Pal invoice, I send him money on Feb 4th,and wait.

And wait, and wait, and wait..........You get the idea. I wait a couple weeks and call.Oooooppppppssss. Forgot ya, sorry. Will go out right away. About 10 days go by, still no bar. This guy is in Ohio,so it should be here pretty quick. Call again,Ooooooppppsss. Forgot ya. Going out now. Then I also get an email with a tracking number. This is March 5th.

Bar arrives a few days after. Wrong damn bar. 18" instead of 24".Call Mike Bowman right away, "I will send another out right away."This was March 8th.I call them on the 15th again to find out where the hell my bar is??Ooooppppssss. Going out right now and followed up with an e-mail with tracking number.

Second bar shows up on the 18th and this is the wrong bar also. Right length, wrong gauge.

Call them up,say I am done. Want my money back, tired of your screw ups, you had nearly 6 weeks to get it together. He says,"Send me the bars, I will send you the money."

I proceed to tell him his track record is not so hot at being prompt and he better think about sending the money before I ship anything back.

He agrees and sends Pay-Pal to me and I open my e-mail yesterday, this guy has the stones to file a dispute with Pay-Pal because he does not have his bars back yet!!!!!!!:censored::censored:After 5 days.

All I can say is Bailey's will get all my money now. Figured buying from a guy here in Ohio, help out, keep a little money around here. What a joke.

Just a public service to anyone considering making a purchase with this seller.

That's a bummer!

So far I haven't had any bad ones off ebay. I did inquire about what looked like a lightly used MS361 for auction from a "top-seller" rated chainsaw guy with nearly a 100% approval rating.

There were only two pics of the saw that didn't include much detail, and the listing offered no details either. I e-mailed him and inquired if he'd done a compression test, what the PSI was, and whether there were any cracks anywhere in the tanks, covers or frame/handle.

His only reply: "Yeah, the saw is all busted up."

That ended that. Wasn't until a couple days later that I realized he was the one I'd just ordered a 25-inch Stihl Rollomatic ES and Stihl chain from. It's coming any time between today and April 5, according to the shipping details. Sure hope it actually comes.

Decided to pull the trigger after than on an 038 Mag sold by a longtime and respected AS member. MUCH better decision than plopping down money on a vendor who can't answer a couple simple honest questions without sassing off. :angry2:

Sure seems to be a crap shoot buying any kind of stuff these days....lately there has been a lot of talk about having a thread about sellers to avoid, whether here or on ebay. The point was made about this not being the place to air out your dirty laundry etc etc. I completely agree. SO, why can't we start a thread about sellers we've had a positive experience with? Nothing fancy, just a place where we could say ''I bought a saw from Rich or Ron or Yooper or whoever and it came today , it works great and i'm very happy, thank you ''.This isn't as much help as knowing who to avoid, but at least you could look and see if a person has any history. Plus ,it's always nice to hear something good instead of ''Oh poor me, I got screwed again, but I kinda liked it......:dizzy:.Anyway ,i'm just new at this, wondering other peoples thought's, pro's and con's:computer:

I consider these threads about ebay sellers (not AS member sellers) as valuable warnings, but I can easily see how things could get out of hand. And I do like the idea of positives. Too much biotching ends up meaning chainsaw yapping isn't as much fun.

Here's one for ya: I bought my used MS460 from AS sponsor/member bcorradi, and he was great to work with! Price was right and the saw is a screamer! I'd buy from him again in a heartbeat. How's that, Chris? :D :D

BANG.......thats what I'm talking about baby..cheerful and fun to read !!!!!!!BTW, I wasn't trying to crap on you , Rich , just wondering if there's a better way.

One note to this thread, if the seller took his transaction outside of e-bay,
and sent you a paypal invoice, then e-bay would have a big problem with
this, and you might want to mention that to the seller, a little extra leverage.

A good seller in my opinion is...

I have made three purchases from saw-king (West Coast area); a 394XP, 36" b&c, and a 43" b&c. All were exactly as described and there were no surprises. I really like his auctions because he includes a video of the actual saw in a shop environment and [usually] one in an actual cut. Those videos really help to give you an idea what you are bidding on. Some folks say his shipping is a bit high BUT it is displayed right there on the auction (no surprises). Factor that into the amount you are willing to pay, and you have every opportunity to bid without issues.

I hope recommending an eBay seller is allowed here. I bought my 394XP from him with a new 28" bar and chain for a TOTAL of $530 (this includes shipping costs). The saw is 100% and only has minor scratches/wear. I feel it is good to share with others when the transactions go as planned, just like ID'ing bad sellers is helpful info.

That's what I had in mind, positive experiences. Let people draw their own conclusions. I should add that I wasn't meaning that people shouldn't post the bad stuff, if you got screwed by someone in a saw deal let us know. I just thought it would be nice to balance it out so it doesn't turn into a 6 page hate fest. Maybe this is a stupid idea ????
