big leaning tree. 30" dia trunk. It is just starting to bloom. It's about to be firewood.

Don't think it is walnut. It real light color inside. I just cut and split a smaller one that's the same kind. Here is a pic of the inside.

The bark and the clumps of blooms combined really makes me think some type of Ash... I'm no expert but I am fairly confident. The wood grain also strikes me as very similar to ash.

It is very straight grane and easy to split.

Yes I think Ash or Oak by the look of the grain inside the splits.

Elm and Ash do look similar but they don't split the same. The Elm I have split looks nothing like that; too straight grained. Another vote for Ash here.

Wayne, You are correct on the poision ivey! I should have been getting a ID on the ivey instead of the tree. I am covered with poison ivey! I have always seen poision ivey as growing on the ground with some small vines climing. This vine was close to 3" dia. I had no idea it was poision ivey. I am older and wiser from my adventures.
