My saw got slapped by a limb today from a tree that was being skidded with a cat. It broke a chunk out of the (crankcase) I believe right next to the choke and stop switches, just a little below the clamp for the top cover. I was thinking of jb welding it, and running a metal strap from the broke out chunk to the housing it's self to hold it together. Besides buying a new case, or dissambling this one to see if it can be welded, I'd appreciate any input on fixing it doesen't need to be pretty just fill the hole so it doesen't fill with other stuff.

Mr Snelling just rebuilt a a 357 I bought from him that was crushed by tree, post some pics and I'm sure he will chime in.

If you want him to respond faster, say something about selling your broken 357 on the cheap..... That'll have a response in minutes. It will be alot of work, but used 357/359 cases should not be that hard to find.

here is a few pictures, I have two of these saws one built, this one is just stock, in time I wanted to have it ported like my other.

I wouldn't replace the case just for that. Try some good epoxy and maybe a little scrap piece of metal behind the joint to reinforce it. Or duct tape! I think it comes in orange now...

I dropped my poulan 4000 and craked the mag between the muffler and bar mount. I cleaned it good and jb weld.
if you look close to the left of the muffler you can see where it doesnt quite line up. I used this saw to buck a big cherry last week and as you can see it held fine. id use an epoxy or jb weld, that's not a high stress part.
