Anybody here own a Load Handler..? Just looking or some feedback as to how it really works for firewood. Wouldn't expect to put more than a third or a half seasoned cord at most on it.

load handler etc.

I own one and I have to see what it would cost
to obtain a replacement tailgate anchor and the
webbing for for it.

I used it on my 1995 isuzu but I can also use
it on my dump trailer to feed wood chunks out
slowly to my wood splitter rather than deal with
a flood of chunks to deal with.

The secret is the slick sheet under the tarp which
allows the canvas to scoot right along with little to
no resistance.

I have been using the slick sheet in my trailer but the
little bugger wont stay in the bed when I dump my loads @#$%^&*(&^%$#@#$%^&*()
not a big deal as it is easy to get and put back in the trailer just time consuming.

I will probably line the trailer with slick sheet and anchor it after I put the D rings in it.

Had one in my old jeep commanche. Does what it claims to do. If you have a spray in bed liner it may not work so well....the textrued surface will cause to much friction.

Err...so is that a good or bad review...?

I have the heavy duty model and I use it on my 88 GMC heavy 1/2 ton and it works well, I have a plastic bed liner so it slides well once you get it moving, hauled over 50 ton from the gravel pit to the house to build a ramp from the main drive to the lower front yard, would have cost me 50 a load to deliver from a 10 ton dump as for firewood I used it a few times, worked ok but you have to dig out the pieces that get between the mat and the wheel wells closest to the cab as they will lock the load in the bed and the mat will either not move or if you have enough nuggets to you will pull the mat out from under the wood.

I have the heavy duty model and have used it alot when I redid my house and added a big garage. As mentioned I HIGHLY recommend a hard slick surface underneath. I found this out the first time I "tried" to use it. I have a hard plastic bedliner in the typical design. Put about what I considered a half load of topsoil. It wouldn't budge and thought if I'd force it anymore it would break or rip. I had to shovel most of it off before it would move.

I called my brother in law and he got me a damaged (on one liittle corner) 4x8 sheet of 3/4" formica topped partical board. WORLD of difference and put twice as much on it and unloaded it.

I had the same problem as Leon that it would move. My solution was to drill one hole in the front, middle of the sheet near the back of the cab. Used a 3/8 lag screw through the bed and it doesn't move now. Probably close to 200 loads on it since then with no problems.

You do have to make sure it is clean on the slick surface EVERY time. If you have something under it when it rakes to the roller off the back of the bed you will damage the tarp as it can poke through.

A dump trailer is a LOT handier but the aren't too cheap. Load handlers aren't useless and I'd buy again if I was in the same situation.

I bought one years ago and used the heck out of it for wood chips and gravel, It slid the loads out fine even being used over a bedliner. The only PIA like another has mentioned, is that whatever gets in front of the wheel wells will lock it up most of the time and needs to be cleared out before you start crankin. Mine has been hangin on the wall though since I got the dump truck :msp_tongue:
