http://www.arboristsite.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=92264&d=1236558207This tree fell over in the hayfield behind my house, I had to cut it up... It was a fairly big tree. It had about four main shoots coming up at the base, each shoot was about 16" dia. The tree made about 3 pickup truck loads before split. It seems to split fairly easy. Also it seems to be a little lighter than oak or hickory or other good firewood. A little bit of a smell, almost like sasafrass, but I am not even a tree guy so, I am lost... I cut it up for firewood and by next fall, it should burn, but I was curious what kind of wood I had... Any help is appreciated.
Attached Images I hope these links will be viewable, I posted in the tree Identification thread but was told to post in the firewood forum...

I had some gutters to clean today at these townhouses I take care of. Trees and the gutters. I came across a mulberry tree and thought I was in need of coming in here tonight and apologize for being a smart ass about the mulberry guesses.

I took these pics of a (for sure) mulberry tree bark and thought I was wrong. But after looking at them I still don't think it is.

But yeah it's close and was prepared to say I was sorry...

I have to retract my vote for Mulberry after I went out and checked mine closer this afternoon. I'm not sure I've ever seen a Sassafras, gotta fix that.
