I reside in Central Texas. I have two mature Arizona Ash trees in my yard at home. They are approx. 10 years old. This past late summer & fall they were beseiged by copper-colored butterflies that seemed to be feeding at the joints where limbs joined the main trunk. Do these butterflies lay eggs that can produce damaging larvae or are they just feeding on sap? If they are pests, how do I treat the problem? The leaves of the trees were shriviling.
