I carved this during the Summer for a wee man from Donemana County Derry. It's the second one he's asked for. The first one was 14 years ago, carved from freshly felled sycamore. It rotted from the inside out as he'd coated with decking oil every year sealing the moisture in. One day it just crumbled to dust.
This one is oak and I've suggested to him to just let it season without applying preservatives. Hopefully he'll get 20+ years out of it. Excuse the images. They're not very systematically placed.
