i have a 038 magnum 2 Stihl , it's supposed to have a Bing 48 carburetor on it . The only identification on it is Bing 48 on the side ? no other identification on it? nothing on top and bottom plate?
the bing 48's i've seen had bing on the top or bottom plate?
thank you

The only one I have is from a 038M...not 038M II.

It has BING on the top, bottom, and side.

Mine didn't need a kit, but will someday. I am not sure if they are available.

the saw has been sitting in someone's basement for many years, very low hour saw. i pretty confident its all original. i just haven't seen a bing without writing on top and bottom. it runs great tho.

Mine came to me pretty rode-hard. But, all it really needed was a NLA carb boot, starter prawl clip, and a couple chain brake parts.

And, cleaning.

It is easy to imagine that during the run of 48s...Bing made a number of changes. I imagine, someone will come along on this thread with the whole 48 history.

Just working on an 064 with a BING 49. Parts are scarcer than hen's teeth. Too bad, they were good carburetors.
This one does have a little corrosion so back to a WJ.
