Ive seen sellers selling carburetors for 266 ,61 268,272 There is a difference. It comes where the idle screw is mounted. The older 266. 61 idle adjustment is in the case The later 268 . 61 , 272 is on the carb
 
It should run clean at force, but start to fourstroke when running free, yes?`
The fourstroke limits the high rpm, it does not get beond that - because it starts to fourstroke.
But when in the wood - with resistance - it starts to run perfectly - as it should. Yes ?

You are correct. when released you will hear that stutter ,put it i the cut it will sound solid
