I would not call them obsolete at all. Just because they are not easily available does not mean they are obsolete. There are a lot of things that cannot be easily located that are still very much needed and usefulWhy?

I haven't seen one in use in many years. Pulp wooders and loggers here used them on every brand of saw for bucking.anyone here use one on the regular? Ive only seen them on the old Poulans
I do but only for bucking on my PP455. Have many bow bars but none for sale. Regularly use the 16x24 for firewood season. The Stihl medium is too small for me and the 18x27 is a bit heavy if your not using a 90+ cc saw. Never ran a bow on my big saws because they just wear you out on anything but the csm.anyone here use one on the regular? Ive only seen them on the old Poulans
