I use it here. We call it pepperwood, myrtle, bay, etc.

The stuff splits like hell. Cross grain structure to the wood holds tight. Has a peppery odor when split and burning, but it burns long and hot when properly dried. Give it two years outdoor. The first year it typically have a fair amount of core water retention. In the fourth year you start loosing it to rot.
