20170426_082252.jpg 20170426_082245.jpg 20170426_082256.jpg I have a row of 5 beautiful 10 yr. old Canadian Hemlocks that are planted in a semi-wooded area in the backyard. Suddenly, one tree in the middle lost all of it's needles almost overnight. We did have some pine trees removed that were behind this row of hemlocks in January by a professional company. We became very concerned during this process when one of the logs from the pine tree was dropped directly behind the dead hemlock. We called the company back out to examine the dead hemlock. After their inspection, they stated that it probably was not the fallen log, but that the trunk has wrapped around itself choking out the main tree. We have noticed that the other hemlocks that are still thriving have the same trunk wrapping issue. Not sure if we agree with the tree removal company since the tree showed no signs of stress until the pine log fell in it's vicinity. Wanted your professional opinion. Pics attached.
