What is your guys opinions on the Caterpillar 518. I've got a chance to buy one (87 or 88 ext. frame with new engine and newer trans.)

it's a wheel skidder, with a cat winch.

They are excellent machines. You don't see them for sale in my area because no one will sell theirs! The older ones that osalate on the back axle will go places the new ones won't even consider.

Id say look into it, around here Cat has always had the reputation for making excellent equipment

How do the track skidders do around the stumps,seems like the rubber tired get around the stumps better.
