My door gasket is in need of replacement. A neighbor with a boiler doesn't think that it would be wise to replace in the middle of the heating season. His concern is that the silicon caulk that Central Boiler sends with the rope won't set up under heat and pressure. Any opinions or hints on replacement would be appreciated.

I did mine in the summer. If you could wait I probably would. But if she really needs it then I would say, Git er done!

The gasket cement needs heat to help cure,I'm not sure about the caulk.I did mine this year with it running...so far so good.

Check out a good hardware store that carries rope gasket...chances are they will have the glue separatly, the stuff I got was a clear semi-liquid glue, let it tack up for 15 min, then set the rope in the groove, shut the door. it will set up in no time.
