I think a good rule of thumb is that we can cut 1/2 cord of firewood into 16 inch lengths with a tank of fuel or 1000 ft. of logs with the same amount of fuel.

Obviously there are variables, but it takes about 2.5 gallons or 10 litres to produces a tractor trailor log of saw logs.
In the following picture is about 6 thousand feet of saw logs with used 6 litres approx. to fell and cut to length which is about 2.5 US gallons if I have done the math right. If you get three trees to a tank your in some pretty nice timber. In the stuff I've shown I get about 4-5/ tank.

Hi John, Here is what I am getting with my saws. I know the wood is different here but thought you would be interested.

Hardwood
Jon 2063-- Can block 1 cord per tank
Jon 2159-- Cut 1 porter load per tank-2.5 cords
Stihl 361-- Cut 1 porter load every 1.5 tanks
Stihl 064-- Cut 2 porter loads per tank

Softwood
Jon 2159-- 2 tanks per porter load
Stihl 361-- 3 tanks per porter load
Dolmar 5100-4 tanks per porter load

1 porter load- 6 tons

Here are some of the blocks off of the veneer logs

When bucking Red Oak, my 066 typically goes through a tank in 20-25 minutes.

When cutting BIG oak (36"+) a tank lasts 15-20 minutes.
