I’ve had a 440 that’s had the handle broken for years. It’s been dripping gas on my sometimes lately and I saw this kit and just had to try it. It hasn’t showed up yet. Is it even worth owning. It’s so cheap I’m expecting parts for a toy chainsaw or something. Reviews and feedback are good though.
If its a quality piece I don’t know how they can possibly do it that cheap.

I have used several of the tank/handles with great success. The plastic top cover does not have the brass inserts at the screw holes so the hardware will need to be installed with medium strength Loctite. Also have to use care not to over tighten the top cover hardware or the plastic will crack. That aside it’s held up real good for me.

The brass inserts can be tapped out and removed from the old plastic and inserted in the new. The Stihl MS440 nameplate can be removed, two holes drilled in it where the tabs are, and then fastened onto the new shroud with short #6 screws and lock nuts. Much of the time those plastic tabs break off anyway.

I think you got a good buy here. Your old plastic does not appear to be in bad shape. You should see some of the beat-up stuff that usually arrives in my shop.

Ditto to Harley. Also does OEM cylinder have a heat shield? I'd replace rubber parts oem

Yea my air filter cover has a hole on the other side. Ok otherwise.

Out here in Utah. The sun does so much damage two chainsaws that are left in the back of pickup trucks and trailers that this is a very cheap and economical way to fix up an old saw to get a couple more years out of it. I have been using the plastics for years and the only thing I've ever had to do is trim a little flash off. Well worth the money in my opinion
