Oh I can hear it now...
How can you neglect things like this? Easy. just get busy doing a bunch of other stuff for a couple of years.

ran the brush down it, and swept it all up. Ready to go. it would probably draw better now...

As far as getting flamed for letting the chimney get that bad.... I find my self in the same boat with many things, I am almost always behind and trying to catch up. I have developed the train of thought to say that "whomever has the time to complain or give me crap about the things I am behind on better have there work close on and be ready to get busy." If this doesn't do the trick just start pointing out some of the things they don't have done yet......things tend to get a lot quieter.....LOL.

What else could I burn? Pine it is. simply not in the budget to import some of that nice hardwood from elsewhere.
One saving grace is that the wood I split up is seasoned several years. nice dry stuff.
Mother is 90, and that dry wood is easier to get lit.
