Hello,
I have a coast live oak that’s about 10 years old. About 2 years around the bark on the trunk near the ground was cracking and has fallen off exposing the wood. The area affected covers about half of the circumference of the truck up to about 18 inches from the ground. It appears to be some sort of speading disease. Will the tree be able to recover from this, and is there anything I can do to help this tree? See attached photo.
