I have a Stihl 056 and I removed the carb. I was looking where the fuel line hooked up. I didnt realize that the gas flow came through the cab boot into the carb. I thought it was an impulse hole.

Lol, welcome to world of Stihl 045 & 056s! The boot has a tab with a hole that does act as a seal for the fuel inlet.

Tough to pressure test the carb though, as there’s no barbed fuel inlet elbow...

They’ve been like that for over 40 years.
