Craftsman chainsaw doesn't start

I have a 16" chainsaw that was just service last year. This year no go! If I put fuel in the spark plug hole it fires right up, but then quits. I've cleaned the air filter, blown out the fuel lines and installed a new fuel filter. Any suggestions.

is there fuel in the tank...................................:msp_tongue: sorry i had to ask i have seen to many "junk" things that just didnt have gas in them

probably needs the carb cleaned. did you run it out of fuel completely before you stored it or just leave it with what was in it?

Hi jdog2,

Yes, it has new fuel and no I didn't run it out of fuel from last fall. I always got away with it before, but it caught up with me. I did soak the carb in carb cleaner but since sears serviced it last year thought it was OK. Several responses mentioned getting a card kit so perhaps that is what I'll have to do.
