Doing a bit of surgery to remove an oiler from a parts saw today and found this.

Now I'll be the first to admit that I'm no Modified Mark but I've seen a few bar mounts in my day.
But this is the dangest thing I've ever seen.

I just couldn't help but think about the old joke about the Diesel Fitter.

"I need some bars to fit my saw"

"Well....Diesel Fitter"

Have you all ever seen anything to beat this?

I think that was one of Oregons "universal" bars intended to fit a variety of saws/mounts.

In the attached photo you can see a NOS Oregon Duo-Tronic bar with the special adapter plate required to make it work with the large frame McCulloch saws.

Yeah Mark that is the same mount.
This looks to be a pretty good bar.

It wouldn't fit a Henway Nik, the Henway had 1/2 inch bar studs and this one appears to be 3/8ths or just a bit more.
Probably fit an Autocost though!

It would be interesting to know what all it actually would fit.
It was on a 4200 Poulan.

somebody rep this man, I gotta spread more love around before I can.

Mike, what you have there is a early attempt at Oregons lightweight or now known as a reduced weight bar!

Really that things a friggin mess. That tail does look pretty large though, maybe it would adapt to the 71A like we spoke about.

What is the gauge on it?

It appears to be an .050 Mark and is in surprisingly good shape for the condition it was in when I started on it.
I'd say if a guy put a chain on it and ran it a bit it would clean up nicely.
