Distel: 4 over 1....or....3 over 1?

I use it with a 3 over one sometimes. I call it my long distel. I use a cord with a long bridge - 46" eye to eye. Great for just going up, getting one thing and smoking down. Not slack tender friendly.

I am also a big vt fan.

The one thing I would stress about these higher performance hitches is that they vary with length and diameter cord used - Unlike a blakes. You have to experiment.

One that is not the proper length or properly dressed, may bite when testing it, but not bite again the 2nd or 3rd time you advance it. This is more true with the vt.

I just meant burning my cord via rapid descent.

Why the long bridge?? Just a throw back from my split-tail days.

It depends on the climbing lines friction and your weight.

My MT is 3:3 on XTC and safety blue, on Yellow Jacket I neded 4:3. But I was having problems with getting a good lock with my boots on the LJ too.
