I have enough parts now to begin my 158 Efco project. Putting a 156 cyl on a 165 base. It will gain 2 cc with the longer crank. Will start taking pics tomorrow.

Just did a quick fit up. 156 cyl on 165 case without a gasket. Piston hits at top of stroke. Will try tomorrow with a gasket. Pics are coming.

Looks like a nice running saw. How would you rate its feel and performance...something different or is it most like 156 or 162 or a 165? What kind torque vs RPM are we talkin?

What all did you do to make this happen..any porting or muff mod?

All i can say is NICE!!

What ever happened to this saw?

I got a 156 that im going to try put an aftermarket 962 cylinder in. Did the 962 have a different stroke than the 956/156 models?

The 156 and 962 have the same stroke. I sold the 158 and ported 962 to a local logger. He bought all my midrange Efcos. The 158 was stronger than the TW962. A 962 on a 165 should be a good runner.
