I have an Elm Tree in my back yard that appears to be dying. It has some leaves, more on one side than the other, but they appear to be drying up. The tree is pretty tall (20 ft.?), not a new tree by any means, probably 12" in diameter. I was told these trees get diseased. I'll try to get a picture when I get some time. Is there something I can do to save it?

I'm not a pro, but I'll tell you what I know. Around here, almost all the dead standing trees are elms that succumbed to Dutch Elm Disease. These days, I rarely see one larger than 12" in diameter that isn't dead or dieing. Kinda sad. :(

I never had one treated for the disease and I don't know anyone who has spent the money for it. Maybe some of the professionals can chime in here.
