Red Maple Tree - Help!

Hello,

I'm not really sure what's going on with the red maple tree in our front yard. The tree split into two large branches and it operates like its two different trees, the leaves change color at different times and fall off at different times.

Well, the other day an arborist who was working in the area told me that the tree is going to split!

Thoughts, do I need to take off one off the limbs at the Y? Definitely don't want this tree to die! Thank you

Have a support cable installed professionally, be careful a lot of so called "arborists" are just ignorant hackers.
Check the ISA website for help finding one.
As for the tree foliage changing have the certified arborist check for possible root collar disorder.
