I live in South Louisiana. I have a fair sized Fig tree about 10 years old that fell over I suppose due to lots of rain and wind. The roots are still in the ground, and the tree doesn't seem to be dying now. I think the soil was just too soft to support the weight. When I get through picking the fruit I plan to prune off the branches that are laying on the ground, leaving the ones that were growing out on the side that is now up.

I am hoping these will continue to grow and make fruit in the future. I also plan to plant another tree as a back up. I will take probably 3 years for that tree to produce fruit. If both make it so much the better. Sorry I don't have any pictures. I am working out in the Gulf of Mexico right now. Any one have any comments or suggestions? I can post pictures when I get home in a couple of weeks.
