Hello,
I am hoping someone can help me, please. I have a 25+ year old dwarf Japanese Red Maple, about 3 foot high and about 10-12 foot diameter. It looks healthy and no visual issues. It never gets any taller, but it really loves growing outwards every year. I am wondering - should i be trying to train it to grow upwards, maybe by tying it to wood spikes, or wire? If i prune it back in the Fall, do you think it will force it to grow upward in the Spring?

If this is normal for the tree, then i'm fine to leave it as it is - it seems happy. I just want to make sure i'm taking care of it correctly.

Thank you!
