fire place insert thermodisc/thermostat

I have a great old fireplace insert from the late 70s early 80s. it heats our entire ranch home.the problem i have is the motor on the fan will drag(some times ,not always) when the fire goes down to where the thermostat kicks(snaps) on and off I have gone to a appliance parts place and replaced it (the thermodisc)once with little change,Is there a newer style that is a better?It is a hutch rebel fire place insert.thanks in advance for all replies......
