Firewood Identification

Well not sure what this is, After reviewing my National Audabon Society Field guide to trees , It look like it may be a Black Cherry. The inside rings are orange around the outside about 4 inches deep the leaves are finely toothed and the stem is greenish brown. the wood is about 18 inches in diameter and a small branch with leaves on it was coming out of it.

You might read this thread to help you with getting a picture posted, the easiest way is to resize it prior to uploading, then use the attachment option mentioned in one of the posts here.

Yup, It is definitely wild or black cherry. It will burn good. Got a bunch of it to burn this winter.

+1! It also makes a beautiful lathe turning wood. So I try to save a few pieces to make bowls and spindles. Very colorful and easy on the chisels. Not very common in Nebraska, but that's the breaks.

I also agree on black cherry. I really like it when used as lumber, it burns well, and smells good.
