Flywheel missing fin or fins, your opinions for use.

I've been running into a lot of saws lately where the flywheel is missing 1 or more fins. If it was just one fin, use it as is or remove the opposite fin to balance it?
If it has more than one, retire it because cooling would be too comprised?

If it doesnt vibe you can run it without problem , on some models you'll lose acceleration and top rpm. Especially on 288 if more than 1 fin gets broken

On older saws and lower revving homeowner saws, zero issues. On high rpm screamers I’d worry a bit more.

I had an old McCulloch that had about 3 left. No issues cooling.

The engine's cooling capability should be engineered in order to be able to cope with dirty cylinder fins and other results of poor maintenance. As long as the flywheel remains balanced, 2 or 4 missing fins should be fine as long as you keep everything extra clean.

Only 3 fins left on the Mac and still cooling properly! That's a bit of a shocker. Changed my mind about running ones with a couple missing.
