Grabbed this little rascal last week for a buck and a half. Hardly needed it, but well..., ahem..., yes honey, another one.

I could damned near still smell the "new" on this thing pulling it out of the case. Yeah, it came with a like new case.

Had a little duty on it as evidenced by the bar, but she's seriously clean otherwise and full of sassy attitude. Plenty o' grunt and power -- kinda surprised me a little bit.

Anyway, a few pics will hopefully fall in line if I can pull it off...

That's sweet! In 1992 or so, my boss had an 031AVEQ in a case. Bought it new in 1970-something. Looked as nice as that one. Anywho..............he had me change out the crank seals and bearings on it. Was a treat handling that saw, as my own 031AV was a bit rougher. I hope he's still running that saw. Gotta give him a call...

I hope it runs out as good as it looks!!!
They were fantastic saws!
I wish I had a dollar for every mile I've ridden with one under my legs in the cab of a Dodge pickup.

my father in law recently gave me one of these saws, "if you can get it running you can have it". same problem as most of these saws, no spark. with a little/a lot of help from reading older posts on this awesome site, it now purrs and cuts like no ones business. not exactly this nice but i got inspired to restore it back to what hopefully will be better than new. :D

Nice saw!
Mine is a shelf queen, but runs like new, 180 psi doesn't hurt.

Dang! and i thought that mine was clean. they do run like champs for what is it all of 48 cc's? Mine pulls the 16 inch Duromatic like a champ. really smooth AV nice handling. overall a very very nice saw to me.

We all hate you a little right now!...lol

Then I probably shouldn't tell ya the guy GAVE me this 041 a day earlier as a "parts saw with a bad coil" while I was looking at a lawn tractor and yard trailer he also had for sale.

Was haggling over the 031 when I mentioned having an 041 project on the bench needing serious help. Guy says he has one in the barn I can have for parts if it'll do me any good. Would start and run ragged for a minute and then die.

Coil seemed fine after I fixed the plug wire rub-through that was shorting directly against the case. Guess maybe I got lucky for a change?

But the 031 is indeed a really sweet little saw and I appreciate the props from you guys for snaggin' it. Probably be a shelf queen like Joe's, but seems like it'll also be fun to run now and again. Haven't checked compression on either one of em yet, but they both passed the drop test by my standards and present a pretty stout resistance when pulling them over -- not to mention seem to run really well overall without beating em up too hard in actual production conditions.

Anyway, thanks for lookin', fellas. Been busy moving and dealing with all that goes with that insanity lately.

Just now finding some time to get back into the IMPORTANT STUFF!!!
