It's a sears/roper D-44

They also made a G-44 gear driven. I tried to fix one for a friend, and never could get it running.

Great, thanks guys! I'll see if I can dig up some info on them. I may need a late winter project...

well I talked to my dad, turns out it was my late grandfathers saw. dad says he cut a LOT of firewood with that saw, but it ended up getting a crack in the top tank when a branch whacked it. he tried to bondo it up but it still leaked. dunno, still may mess with it if I get bored.

Here is what it could look like... I think Johnnie (Roanoker494) used to have a bunch of these.

[EDIT] It appears that I have more than one...

If it were my paps, I'd probably want to restore it a bit too. Even if you can't get it going or it's too far gone, you can paint it up and make a sweet wall hanger out of it. I have a couple mall saws that were my grandfathers. most people would think I'm nuts for working on them.

Start off with a good degreasing and a wash. Might surprise you!

Roanoker494 hasn't been on here of late.................................................

Carl,

I think that he has moved as well. I found him through a CL ad for someone on the Forum 3 or 4 months ago. I have not seen him since the Central VA GTG last April.
