It was late when I typed my question. Sorry. As much as I love the shade my tree provides me in the summer months, I could really do without those pollen things blowing around. It makes hayfever season worse for my son and just makes me have a hayfever season. I would like to take the garden hose and hose the pollen things down and try to wash them down the gutter. My concern is that I may harm the tree, which I don't want to do.
Thank you for your help!

Go ahead, ass long as the pressure is not hard enough to knok leaves off your ok. You will find that some pollen still flies, but you'll get most to go at once. Wait fo a day you see it starting to blow, or gut hit it every few days till it stops putting out pollen.
