gasket cement

This is my opinion....The purpuse of gasket sealer is to remove and seal any imperfection on the mating surfaces that might be the cause of a vacuum leak.....I use "Permatex hylomar hpf."...or......"permatex aviation make a gasket".
Dont forget it needs to be oil and fuel resistant. I would not waist my time to put a dry gasket and to do the job over again only to save a fiew buck.... :)

if you have to use casket silicon or such product then the sealing surfaces aint straight....

Guys... you don't need any... The surfaced are machined and work perfectly dry as intended. I've done hundreds... never a failure. The newer Stihl gaskets on the bigger saws are just 0.5mm steel that is deformed by assembly pressure, and they seal perfectly.

Why steel and no glue? So there is no settling over time. No more cracked flanges on cyinders..
