Whether a power head is, a monster, a good saw , or kinda blaisa
A real good chain makes up for lots of performance fine points. And a good bar.
A new guys effort should be in putting up great chains every time. I totally reccomend stock saws for new guys. All the engine performance in the world never put a tree on the ground. The bar and chain do that.

Invest your money in lots of new bars and a hundred foot roll of chain. As soon as those tiny bars stop working perfectly, pitch it in the bay and put a newone on.
Run your chains till they are half wore down and pitch them also. After you KNOW HOW TO CUT and WHAT TO CUT. Then get your powerheads juiced up. . Only then will you be able to appreciate a good hot saw.

fantastic advice sir.

i'll do some studying in the days to come.

as it stands i have an understanding of tension in leaning trees and branches as i've had to deal with numerous boxelder junkers, i would never say i know everything or even enough but it has helped me in tree thus far...

i've also tried to finish off the cuts with my hand saw just incase...

thanks again for the advice..

Looks like the left hand version ;) anybody else notice that the picture was reversed?

Anyway, nice saw, happy cutting.

Congrats on the new saw,
You said you were gone for 6 years over seas, what ya been doing?
Just curious. Careful in the trees, and good luck finding a groundy that can keep up.

i think that was my 8 shots of espresso face. thus the grump. after 10 shots my face curls into a fist.

i wish they made lefty saws... as a lefthander i'm used to using right handed tools.

i was in spain trying to work. did a fair bit of building and i probably shouldn't go into details about the rest.
i've been back for a year making money.

well i chose caution on the side or error..
i was beat like an old mule so took the weekend off and spent much time splicing or at least attempting it.

i've got to do a wee bit of pruning tomorrow on a pine so she'll get the 1st run then.

tanned rested and ready.

i did this really crazy thing.. maybe you've heard of it. i took a nap?
i think that's what the kids are calling it.?

it was hard tho'
funky little beast crying to run threw some junk trees.

soon my little one.

well now.

1st time in tree with the 201t was a whomping success.

all my body parts are where they belong and i'm not in the emergency room.
always the sign of a good day.

i can see what people used to a 200t are moaning about.
there is a lag in start up and she doesn't want to pull threw cuts like a 046 or something tremendous, but being used to a 180 beater it wasn't that much of an adjustment.

the new chain is really nice and sharp and will be kept that way,
i also took some advice and bought a backup chain yesterday.
i'll be grabbing two more loops this week for the 20 and 25" bars on my 391..

got to say i love using the tophandle in tree.
i even went as far as bringing the scabbard with me

as has been stated already, i really need to work on my cuts.
in tree is just another world
another world which i will study till my eyes bleed.

it was all copasetic.

i-yep.
10-15 tanks...
well all in good time.

looks like this weekend is going to be chainsaw massacre around the farm.
i've still got to break in the 391 and now the 201t.

on the plus side this week is shaping up to be pretty mellow so there should be plenty of time for it.

i'll keep you gentlemen posted.

well now i will get some action photos soon i hope. (shooting for this weekend)
rest of the week is oddjob central so no tree work (sucks.)

though it will entail operating an old allis-chalmers wd-45 (awesome.) and a skid loader.

and i did get a discount i think (-$600 for the saw with extended warranty+tax.)
