My bobcat welder chucked a piston off the crank and limped through its last job burning rods on 1 cylinder.
I debated buying a new trail blazer then put my efforts into this project welder its pipe liner type welder from 1981 did not run or weld when i got it now it does both. Shes already been making money.20180412_202254.jpg
Ive been making a pretty fair wage mobile welding and just about dumped 5 grand into the new machine.
The old big 40 is working so good i held off and decided to clean it up.

The 064 piston did get some ceramic coating. I still have to adjust 046 ports alittle and get it 440 together.

The welder runs incredibly well.

Ill get some more progress pics of the 440/046/64 hybrid as i have time

For an .040 pop up.

In hind site there are other options from husqvarna and stihl with wider skirts.

Ive got a couple 46 cylinders. I may end up doing one with a 046 piston to see wich i like best.

Heck i dont even know if the 440/46/64 will hold together. Ive about got everything clearanced to where it now bolts together.

Might turn into a dud build

Or a bad beast.

Bigger and higher isn't always better.
I realize that but it could work out for him I'm sure he's just doing just for fun just to see if he can make it work. I've personally never heard of anyone doing what he's doing other than a big bore.

Brad i had one 46 it was a saw i got cheap and sold. I have little to no experience playing with 46's

Im hoping to end up with a tourqey saw

I ame hoping to be 200+psi.

With the 064 piston i can tune squish with gaskets with 046 piston and 35 popup the base has to be turned or milled, thats twice work (cost) as turning a 64 popup.

Im shooting for 025 squish with thin gasket. Though ive yet to bolt it together yet to see how close we came to hitting that mark.

Yes.

To be honest i got it in my head to build a hybrid then stumbled across the 064 piston while researching and that stuck like glue too

It is however a golf piston that i got caber rings to put on it.

I have not touched the ports yet. To be honest i may just bolt it together yhen go from there with porting later

Thats what ive heard though ive ran them in a few different saws with good results.

There are better options then golf thsts for sure

Well its still not done. Had it apart and back together like 100 times, piston finaly cleares crank, cylinder bolts on and clears, plastic fits working on muffler spacer
Package of oe circlips in the mail.

Squish did not hit the mark. With gasket it was .05 could just about run the 064 piston with thick gasket without pop up.

Gasket removed and lots of elbo grease squish was knocked in half.

Yes brad thinking about turning a metor now that numbers are getting figured out

, intrigued with the 272 piston and giving finger ports a whirl

Anyways heres a few pics, may throw the cabar rings in tonight and see what compression is at
