Hello all

I have been lurking for quite a while and soaking it all in. Ready to say hello and join in the fun. Bought my first saw about 5 years ago, Stihl Ms 210, and been running it since then keeping our lots here in Alaska cleared up.

Finally got brave and muffler modded it today and have been playing with carb settings. A little paranoid so I have it rich right now and will keep an eye and ear on it over the next few weeks.

So hello from Alaska and glad to be on board!!

Michael

Welcome!
Remember, too rich is just as bad as too lean.

Duly noted

Got a good burble going at WOT and it cleans up ALMOST all the way in the cut

I think

Along with 59 years of too loud music, guns w/out ear protection and really bad tinnitus it sounds pretty close to me...

Lived in Vernon and Rome in the early 60s and remember the Adirondacks fondly

Gorgeous country

Michael

Welcome.
Grew up in Oneida.
You go to VVS?
You remember Murphys Cider Mill in Verona??

Stihl 041S

Thanks for the welcome

I am not sure what VVS is; I am assuming a school? I remember going to K through 3rd grade in Rome don't remember the name of the school.

Dad was stationed at Griffiss AFB from 59 through 64.

The cider mill sounds familiar. I remember a yearly Halloween costume parade with real cider and homemade donuts.

Fall in Alaska is beautiful but I will always remember the color in the woods during fall in New England

Michael

Vernon Verona Sherrill school.
My dad worked at Griffiss mid 50s till 71.
Alaska is on my bucket list.
You got 3 Brownies??

Stihl 041S

Nope, Bearcub is just the first half of my e-mail address

Couldn't think of a cool "chainsaw name" when I registered

I run into a lot of folks with that same bucket list item

LOL

Hey Valley

Was there last night for some brisket with friends

Yeah, that rotten leaf smell is unique in the fall isn't it

All these years later and I am still looking for the giant dog that left the pile that makes that "unique" smell

Looks like another beautiful day up here

Michael

Here is how we do it in Bethel. 4 day float back home

Hey hawkins

Tom Hawkins?

Been there; done that

Lived in Bethel from 94 to 2002

Miss the Kusko

Hey Gypo

Nice pic

Spent last Wednesday morning cleaning up after a bear raid on my trash bin

I live at the foot of Bear Mountain

Well named

Hey fear

Yup, its a popular destination for a lot of people

Michael

Or three of these?

missedbass and Gypo

Username is just the front half of my email address and it just stands for the 3 of us Browns (my last name) that were here when I got the email address

No brown bears involved

Never killed a brown bear up here

Got lots of those big ugly meeses going through the property though

We have had two back to back record setting mild winters so the moose kill by trains and vehicles is way down because the moose were able to travel with ease without using roads and railroad tracks

The Alaska Railroad normally kills dozens and dozens each year when the snow is deep because they won't stay off the tracks

Numbers are way up, in my area anyway

I have had a number of run ins with them on my bike in the last few months

They hurt way more people each year up here than bears ever thought of

I cringe when tourists walk up to a mom and calf

Mad mojo

If he is who I think he is we met in passing but have a lot of the same friends

Bethel is a small town of 5000-6000people 400 miles from the nearest road

You tend to either meet or at least know the same people especially if you have similar interests

And I think I mis-remembered his first name

Tom, not Bob

I guess we will see

Michael
