i would like to know how i can germinate an acorn. what is the best why ? please advise

stick in flat and transplant in spring. they need to be cold for a sseason. If you just put them in the ground the vermin like mice and deer will get to them.

Watch out for grub holes in the shell, get quality acorns from the tree just as others are falling.Plant on surface half buried either on its side or point down.Potting mix-50% pumis,25%compost,25%commercial potting soil.Styrafoam cups work great as a pot, just rmember to punch in a few drain holes. When repotting use the same soil mix, coarseness as well as drainage is important for healthy root development.Plant the small tree in a 1-3gal. nursury pot at a level so the remaining acorn is resting on TOP of the soil.Keep out of direct sunlight for about 3 weeks, then place into the yard and treat it the same as any potted plant.Do not fertilize for 1-month after repotting.
