Help ID this wood?

Neighbor cut down a tree and offered me the firewood...would appreciate the help if anyone can ID the tree species. Thanks.

Looks like American Elm, but I could be wrong.

Just got done splitting a bunch of Elm with my axe. Still Traumatized from it.hehe

That's elm. Looks like winged elm or maybe american elm.

Help ID this wood

Some sort of elm would be my guess

Im almost positive thats American elm. Not bad firewood. Starts easy, burns a little quick, not too bad, and leaves medium ash. I use it to first start a fire cause it catches quick when dry, and puts out decent heat.

All the American Elm I cut has no damn bark left. I think it burns great it isn't as good as Red Elm IMO... but if I see one I will add it to the wood pile, I use it mainly for emergency wood. I believe I've burned more American Elm this year than anything. It doesn't like to be split, it wears me out. But to answer your question it does look like Elm.

I think elm too. I cut two down about 3 weeks ago that were standing dead. Really tough to split with an ax but does start a fire good.
