jonus is coming here so I cut seasoned logs of a power line right of way and was able to quickly get this oak maple and hickory separated from pine and gum just from weight of the cut pieces and of course when I split them it just confirm species

The second picture, 95% red maple (Acer rubrum). A picture of a twig will verify it 99%. There is a minute chance it's a silver maple. Red & silver maples also hybridize naturally.
The leaf is from a sycamore.
